People with diabetes are more likely to develop Glaucoma as are non-diabetics. Diabetes may increase the risk of open angle glaucoma onset and progression, but can also cause a severe secondary glaucoma, neovascular Glaucoma.
This type of Glaucoma occurs when new blood vessels start to grow on the iris. Neovascular Glaucoma is a fairly difficult condition to treat.
