In the Year 2000, I had the attack of uveitis for the first time. Whilst in most of cases, the inflammation affects both the eyes but in my case it was the only the right eye that was affected by inflammation. I underwent a series of blood tests , X-rays , CT Scans etc but the reason of the attack could not be known. I was put on steroidal drops to control the inflammation. In 2003, after being on steroid drops for a period of three years, I developed cataract in my right eyeas a side effect to prolonged use of steroid drops, this is when I was referred to Shroff Eye Center for the uveitis treatment and the cataract surgery.

The surgery went off well, but I had frequent attacks of uveitis after the surgery and vision of the right eye dropped drastically – the saving grace being the left eye.

In January 2009, I had the inflammation in the left eye (the healthy eye), which is when me and my doctors got worried. I was given ATT treatment and a course of immunosuppressive drugs to control the inflammation and again due to prolonged use of steroids I developed cataract in the left eye as well. It was decided by my doctors that the left eye too would have to be operated but only after the inflammation is kept under control for around six months to decrease the risk associated with an intrusive surgery. They managed to do that and my eye was operated on the 3rd of September 2011. I have been under regular observation since then. I had forgotten how bright the world was since last 2years, I see a complete new bright and colorful world since the surgery. I thank my doctors from the bottom of my heart for bringing the colors and brightness back into my life. It has been a long struggle ……. 11 long years, but the struggle did not seem like struggle since I had such strong team standing by me all the time. It is because of my family and my doctors that I have been able to walk through this tough time.

At Shroff Eye Center the treatment is beyond Cure it is about Care and Concern. One can feel all the time that the doctors are concerned and they care.
